Eden Cove & Wyndham preparedness events
During the Community Table Talks series, members of the Eden Cove community had expressed their concerns about disaster vulnerability.
Eden Cove, situated on the northern edge of the Eden township, is a housing estate surrounded by dense bush. It has one road in and out.
The project team worked with the Red Cross and community representatives to create a program designed to bring residents together to begin collaborating on strategies for improved preparedness.
Around the same time, the team also responded to a request from residents of the village of Wyndham who were keen to bring community members together on the topic of preparedness.

Eden Cove Pappadums & Preparedness event
Following the introductory information session, the project team partnered with the Red Cross to host an Eden Cove community workshop on Thursday 10 November 2022 at the Eden RSL Memorial Hall. Pappadums and Preparedness was an opportunity for community members to start a conversation about how they might work together through a CRT model to coordinate ways of being better prepared for future disasters. The evening was also an opportunity for social connection over a dinner of curry and pappadums. Sixteen members of the Eden Cove community attended the event. At the end of the night attendees were invited to indicate their interest in forming a core group to progress a Red Cross CRT for their community. |
